Summary  

After the presentation of the Commandments

God is Holy and righteous and His standards are so high that He judges murderers to be the same as thieves or liars etc…

For this. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not murder. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness.  You shall not covet and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicator’s, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

We all need the gift of God’s righteousness 1 Cor 6:9-10

The Condition of the World

The bible declares that WE ARE ALL under sin…as it is written,  THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS,  NOT EVEN ONE ; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,  THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE . Rom 3: 9-12

How We Became Sinners (Optional)

The Bible teaches that God created us so that we can spend eternity in fellowship with Him. But when our ancestor Adam disobeyed God, (spiritual) death which is the power of sin, entered into his life causing his spirit, body and soul to become impure and separated him from God.

Since then this spiritual death has been passed down the generations from Adam, and all mankind have inherited this impure condition of the spirit, body and soul. The spitit and soul is that eternal part of us that lives on when we die physically.

If we die in this impure condition we will not be allowed access into heaven where nothing that is impure can enter, but we will be sent to a place of impurity and eternal torment – That place is called Hell!

NB: This death is not just physical death but also a spiritual death, which separates us from God forever’

“And as it is appointed for men once to die (physical death), but after this the judgement” (spiritual death) – Hebrews 9:27

The Law reveals we are born a sinner and guilty before a Holy God

The law, (the 10 commandments) is like God’s mirror which He uses to reveal to show us our true condittion before a Holy God. That our sins are caused by the power of sin working in us.

We do not go to Hell for the wrongs (sins) we have done but because of the inherited sinful condition of our spirit and soul (our sin nature). Our wrongdoings (sins) like lying, cheating, stealing, hatred, murder, greed, lust, etc. are the results of the power of sin working in us. Our sins (the things we do, like lying, stealing etc.) prove that the power of sin (sinful nature) is working within us.

The bible says “For All have sinned (broken God’s commandments) and fall short of the glory of God” (God’s standard, Romans 3:23)“…that the whole world may become guilty before God… for by the law is the knowledge of sin(s)” (Romans 3:19-20)
