Introducing Kevin Piper: Evangelist
In 2008, after the loss of my wife after a ten year chronic illness, I was confronted by the reality of my lukewarm faith. I cried out to God — and He answered. I heard His voice say, “I’m going to make you an evangelist. Now go.” I obeyed and began a road mission in a house-bus across New Zealand from 2007 to 2014, preaching the gospel and eqipping the saints to evangelise wherever He led me.
Since then, I’ve continued the mission. Through my ministry, I’ve seen God confirm His Word with miracles: the terminally ill healed, a man raised from the dead, and lives changed forever. But the greatest miracle of all is salvation — seeing the lost turn to Jesus before it’s too late.
Miracles & Testimony Highlites
- A man who was injured in a 1981 motorcycle crash was instantly healed and able to kneel again in 2007.
- A man declared dead for an hour came back to life after prayer in 2008.
- Multiple people with terminal cancer were healed following gospel ministry between 2008 and 2013.
- A woman with gangrene in the Philippines was healed after hearing the gospel in 2013.
Why You Can Trust the Bible
We’re living in prophetic times. What’s happening in the world today matches what the Bible foretold thousands of years ago. These unfolding events confirm that the Word of God is true and that Jesus is coming soon. I use these signs to help people understand Scripture and believe the gospel.
The Ministry of the Evangelist
The role of the Evangelist is one of the five leadership gifts Christ gave to the Church, as outlined in Ephesians 4:11-12:
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
🧭 The Role of the Evangelist
Within the five-fold ministry, the evangelist has a dual focus:
- Equipping the Saints for Evangelism — Like a coach training a team, the evangelist’s role is to teach and empower believers to effectively share the gospel.
- Strengthening the Church — Though the evangelist has a heart for the lost, their ministry begins inside the Church by stirring up faith, passion, and urgency among believers.
Evangelism is not reserved for evangelists. Every disciple is called to evangelize.
🌍 The Broader Ministry of Evangelism
While the office of the evangelist is a specific calling, the ministry of evangelism belongs to the whole Church. Every believer has been entrusted with the message of salvation. As Jesus commanded in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20):
“Go and make disciples of all nations…”
Biblical examples like Stephen (Acts 6–7) show this truth. Though he was a deacon, not an evangelist, he preached boldly, was full of the Holy Spirit, and confirmed the Word with signs — ultimately giving his life for the gospel.
🤝 Power in Unity
An evangelist on his own can only reach so many. But an equipped and mobilized Church can reach thousands. As Deuteronomy 32:30 says:
“One can chase a thousand, but two can put ten thousand to flight…”
This is why the evangelist’s greatest impact is not just on the streets, but in training others to go as well — igniting a multiplying movement of gospel proclamation.
