The Message of the Evangelist To The Church

The difference between the Ministry of the Evangelist, and the Ministry of Evangelism?

The Ministry Of The Evangelist is not the same as the Ministry of Evangelism. The Ministry of the Evangelist is to equip God’s people for the work of Evangelism. Only SOME have been called to the Ministyry of the Evangelist, to equip the body of Christ to do the work of Evangelism under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Yet all have been called to evangelise. But not all are obedient to that call.

Reach NZ is here to help you find the right Evangelist who will help equip your Church, Home Group, or Home Fellowship anywhere in New Zealand, to do the work of evangelism in your community. We will help you to train, and set up and run Outreaches in your community.

The terms "ministry of the evangelist" and "evangelism" are related concepts within the context of Christianity, but they have distinct meanings and roles:

“…until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

The terms “ministry of the evangelist” and “evangelism” are related concepts within the context of Christianity, but they have distinct meanings and roles:

Key characteristics of the Ministry of the Evangelist include:

  • Preaching: Evangelists is to equip His Saints to evangelise. They are typically gifted speakers who deliver sermons or messages that focus on the teachings of Jesus Christ, the need for salvation, and the call to repentance and faith, and the responcibility of the Church to fulfil the Great Commission.
  • Outreach: Evangelists often engage in outreach activities, both within the church community and in the wider world. They equip and encourage the Church to seek to reach non-believers, bring back lapsed believers, or encourage and strengthen the faith of existing believers.
  • Revival Meetings: Evangelists are involved in organizing and leading revival meetings or crusades, which are special events aimed at renewing and revitalizing the faith of believers and bringing new converts to Christ.
  • Discipleship: While evangelists are primarily focused on proclaiming the gospel, they also play a role in the initial discipleship process, helping new believers grow in their faith and understanding of Christ.

Evangelism

Evangelism is a broader concept that encompasses the practice of spreading the Christian gospel and sharing the message of Jesus Christ with others. It is not limited to the work of evangelists but is considered a fundamental duty and calling for all Christians. Evangelism can take various forms and can be carried out by individuals, churches, and Christian organizations.

Key aspects of the Ministry of Evangelism include:

n the intricate tapestry of Christian ministry, the evangelist emerges as a vital thread, weaving together the mission of equipping the saints to proclaim the most powerful message in the world—the Gospel of everlasting life. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, this divine message holds a transformative power, capable of converting even the darkest heart into a new creation in Christ. As we delve into the essence of the evangelist’s ministry, we find inspiration in Mark 16:20, where God confirms this Gospel with signs.
  • Personal Witness: Every Christian is encouraged to be a witness for Christ in their daily life, sharing their faith through their actions, words, and lifestyle.
  • Church Outreach: Churches often engage in evangelism through community events, outreach programs, and mission work to reach people who may not be part of the church.
  • Door-to-Door Visitation: Some Christians and church groups engage in door-to-door evangelism, where they visit homes and engage in conversations about faith.
  • Media and Technology: In the modern age, evangelism also takes place through various media, including television, radio, the internet, and social media, where the Christian message can be shared with a broader audience.
  • Evangelistic Campaigns: Churches and organizations may organize evangelistic campaigns or events to reach a specific group of people or a community with the gospel message.

In summary, the ministry of the evangelist is a specific calling within the Church, involving the equiping of the saints and encouraging them to preach and proclamation of the gospel, while evangelism is the broader practice of sharing the Christian message with others, which can be carried out by all Christians in various forms and settings. Both play crucial roles in spreading the message of Christianity and bringing people to faith in Christ.
